Flagship Pilot · Case Study

We don't describe the work. We show it.

Cousins Foundation Outreach is a community-driven nonprofit in Hampton County, South Carolina — family programming, youth mentorship, and the annual Cousins Day celebration. StartedBlack built its entire institutional web presence, search visibility, and donation infrastructure at no cost, as our flagship pilot. Here's exactly what that looks like.

The challenge

A real organization with no institutional presence.

Cousins Foundation Outreach had a five-year track record, a devoted community, and a signature event that draws families from across the Lowcountry — but no website, no search presence, no donation infrastructure, and no sponsor-ready materials. For a grassroots nonprofit, that gap is the wall between a good mission and the sponsors, grants, and partners that let it grow. Comparable professional builds commonly run into four figures — out of reach for an organization funding itself.

What we built

The full back-office foundation — handled.

  • An 8-page institutional website — Home, About, Programs, Cousins Day, Gallery, Get Involved, Donate, and Privacy — on a custom domain with HTTPS.
  • Findable in search — so someone looking for help in Hampton County actually finds them: structured data, local targeting, a sitemap, and Google Search Console set up and verified.
  • A complete event system — the full Cousins Day weekend schedule, event flyers, a 17-photo gallery, and autoplaying event video.
  • Donation infrastructure — a branded giving page wired for secure online contributions.
  • Brand & media kit — a cleaned transparent logo, sponsor logos, and an optimized, geo-tagged photo and video asset pack delivered to the client.
  • Institutional trust layer — a written privacy, donor-privacy, and photo/media-consent policy, plus formal intake documentation.

The model

Why we do this — free.

StartedBlack removes the cost and complexity barriers that keep Black-owned businesses and community organizations from operating with institutional-grade infrastructure. This engagement was delivered at no cost in exchange for case-study rights and referral support. It's proof of a repeatable model: the same standard we bring to every client, designed to be funded through partnerships with banks (Community Reinvestment Act), corporate supplier-diversity programs, and government pathways — so the organizations building Black neighborhoods never hit the infrastructure wall alone.
